A bunch of kids on rollernews talked shit on this, and I got mad cuz people talked shit, then I got to see the edit and it was pretty tight. Didn’t like the song, but these dudes rock the fuck out of Vibralux and look like they are having a great time. This is a pretty wonderful representation of down home skating. Thanks John D. for making this edit.
So far and away the highlight of the tour was the only night we stayed in Superior, WI. We had traveled up to Duluth for the day and planned on getting a hotel for the night. Unfortunatly the hotels in a 75 mile radius were all sold out for the Maritime Festival, FUCK!!!. So we called around and people turned on the party lights in the van. Hours went by before finding a BACKYARD to sleep in. We headed to the local Wal-Mart to buy some air matressess and ran into a couple of bewildered skaters, Isaiah and Tyler. They were there buying condoms, but the craziest part is they had heard from a friend we were coming through town and they drove from the twin cities over 4 hours to try and find us with no luck, and then they saw us at Wal-Mart. Haffey called the coin-toss, heads to stay, tails to go back to Lake Owen… heads. Turned out Isaiah’s parents were out of town and he said we could crash, no backyard for us….
When we pulled up Isaiah and Tyler pulled out skates and their box. We were tipsy/drunk at that point and Farmer initiated a move to skate the box with them. Everyone followed suit (edit below). Everyone had a moment where they Kevin Baconed in the pan with the exception of Garlinghouse. Check out the footage.
We were all pretty tired by the time the session was over, but Isaiah and Tyler wanted to rip some Guitar Hero for us so Brenton, Don, and I uploaded the footage while everyone else chilled and Haffey and Fabs slept in the van. At about 4am the local football allstar from U of M Superior pulled up and asked if we were gay and where our boards were at. Don kept spitting on his truck while I calmly explained that sleeping in the powder blue van were 2 x-games gold medalists who had travelled around the world, and inside the house was the rest of arguably one of the best skate teams on the planet. After we made him feel very small in comparison and merit he kindly wrote down our web URL and is probably reading this and realizing how big a douche him and his friend were.
The house wasn’t too clean so I slept on top of the van on an air matress and Farmer had a mouse crawl by his face in the middle of the night. Thanks Isaiah and Tyler.
Well as we speak the cops and drugs dogs have the van surrounded as I sit outside of Caribou Coffee stealing internet with a brown bag full of empty been cans, alone. He asked me what I was doing and I explained the situation, if you are reading this and there is no day 5 it is because I pressed “publish” before going to jail. That being said, day 4 was another great day. Didn’t get many photos taken as Alex’s camera ran out of batteries but it was still great. We went to a sweet little park where everyone got lines and tricks, and then right up the street to a square drop rail, see pics, and my dumbass locked the keys in the van. Thanks Michael for saving my life. Time flew as we got a little later start then previous days and before we knew it we were back at Chris’ house drinking beers and logging footage. I wish there was something more interesting to say then the fencers we saw in the park, or the sweet misty flip that happened, but I would be lying. Just another day handling business with the best dudes around.
